Biography

Mr. SASAYAMA Takuya has been serving as the Consul-General of Japan in Toronto since July 2020. He has been a member of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) for the past 34 years since he joined in April 1988.
 
Some of Mr. Sasayama previous positions at the MOFA headquarters in Tokyo were asthe Director of the APEC Division of the Economic Affairs Bureau, and Director of the First Southeast Asia Division in the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department.
 
His international postings include Mexico, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, and the United States of America. His most recent posting before arriving in Toronto was in Ottawa as the Minister for Political Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Canada.
