Holiday Hampers Daily Bread Fundraiser
Holiday Hampers Daily Bread Fundraiser Oct. 08, 2026 - Dec. 31, 2026

Our Rotary club is proud to support the Holiday Hampers promotion for the seventh year. Together, we’ll pack 500 hampers of food at the Daily Bread Food Bank for members of Progress Place, a club for the mentally challenged and seniors at the Native Canadian Centre Residence.

Each hamper costs $25 and provides about $40 worth of food. Our goal is to raise $12,500.

Here’s how you can help:

Donate: every gift helps, and donations of $100 or more make a big impact. See link below.

Invite your friends and family to support us.

If you’re on Facebook or Instagram, please share this message:

In many rural areas, including Consuelo in the Dominican Republic, girls face a monthly challenge: lack of access to menstrual hygiene products. This affects their health, well-being, and causes them to miss school, limiting their education and future opportunities.

On Saturday, October 31st, 2026, join us for the International Service Pads Sewing Project as we assemble 250 reusable menstruation kits for girls in the Dominican Republic. Each kit includes flannel liners, shields, underwear, and hygiene supplies, helping girls continue their education with dignity and confidence.

No sewing experience? No problem!
Whether you’re cutting fabric, sewing, or assembling kits, every helping hand makes a difference.

Together, let’s stitch a path to education and empowerment.

Dr. John Walsh Biography
"Dr John Walsh is an Associate Professor of Classics at the University of Guelph. His academic research centres upon Greek and Roman historiography, particularly Diodorus Siculus and the relationship between historical writing, literature, empire, and cultural memory. He also writes extensively on Canadian defence policy, military education, the Reserve Force, civil-military relations, and national resilience, with work appearing through the NATO Association of Canada, Canadian Naval Review, and the CDA Institute. As the University’s Director of Defence and Industrial Strategy, he leads efforts to connect Guelph’s research strengths with Canadian priorities in defence, security, resilience, and industry. Dr Walsh founded the Serving Scholar Program, which supports students serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, and leads Project Reunion, an international commemorative initiative honouring the 109 members of the Guelph community who died during the First World War."
