Biography
Steve Paikin has been a journalist in Canada for 40 years, the last 30 of them at Ontario’s provincial broadcaster TVO. Steve is anchor of The Agenda with Steve Paikin now in its 18th season. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a member of the Order of Ontario. Steve was born in Hamilton and his father a member of the Rotary Club of Hamilton. Steve’s early career started as an anchor and Queen’s Park correspondent for CBC and host of the daily news and current program on CBC Newsworld. He has acted as moderator for federal leaders debates in 2006, 2008 and 2011 and for Ontario provincial leaders debates in 2007, 2011, 2014, 2018 and 2022. He is the author of eight books including: The Life: The Seductive Call of Politics, The Dark Side: The Personal Price of a Political Life in Canada; Public Triumph, Private Tragedy: The Double Life of John Robarts; The New Game: How Hockey Saved Itself; Paikin and the Premiers; Bill Davis: Nation Builder and John Turner: An Intimate Biography of Canada’s 17th Prime Minister. Today will be the 6th time that Steve Paikin has addressed the Rotary Club of Toronto and we warmly welcome him back.
